CALL FOR ENTRIES - LAST CALL FOR EARLY SUBMISSIONS

06.15.06
PORTSMOUTH, NH – For five years running, the New Hampshire Film Expo (NHFX) has captured the excitement and energy that is the true spirit of the independent film movement.

NHFX opened submissions for the 6th Annual NHFX on April 1, 2006 and has received more than 70 films from New Hampshire filmmakers, filmmakers from across the United States, and abroad including Switzerland, Australia, and Canada. The early submission deadline is June 30, 2006 and July 31, 2006 for final submission.

The festival is now accepting submissions for films of all lengths and genres produced anywhere in the world. Awards will be given out in the following categories: feature; short drama; short comedy; documentary; animation; and student; screenplay; a Grand Jury award; and the sought after “Best of the Fest.” A complete list of submission guidelines and entry form can be found at www.nhfx.com.

New this year is the option to submit paperless entries through The International Film Festival Submission System on the Web at Withoutabox.com. Without A Box provides cost-saving, online entry to major film festivals throughout the U.S. and in Europe with one master entry form, allowing you and us to enter your film more quickly and with greater accuracy. This method is free and easy. Members who choose to join Withoutabox also get $5 off their Entry Fees, plus the advantages of extended deadlines and online press kit submissions.

The 6th Annual NHFX is scheduled for Oct. 13-15 at several locations in Portsmouth, including The Music Hall, Strawbery Banke, the Seacoast Reparatory, West End Studio Theater, and the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth Hotel. Last year’s event screened 54 films in three days. The festival is one of the largest in New England, screening an average of 50 films from more than 15 states and three different countries each year. As many as 2,000 people have attended the films, seminars, ceremonies, and parties in the past.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Without A Box. It has not only increased the quantity of our submissions, but the quality as well as the international awareness of the event,” states Nicole Gregg, festival producer for NHFX. “Each year the momentum has grown and the quality of the films has been staggering, promising an exciting film festival.”

The mission of the non-profit New Hampshire Film Expo (NHFX) is to celebrate the art of filmmaking and to make film accessible and enjoyable to everyone. NHFX brings together student and professional filmmakers, and screenwriters with industry experts, educators, avid movie-goers, and film connoisseurs from around the nation for a highly interactive weekend filled with the best in undiscovered as well as award winning independent film. NHFX also features educational workshops, the industry trade show, and special guest panels, all culminating in a gala award ceremony on the historic shores of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
