6TH ANNUAL NHFX ANNOUNCES CALL FOR ENTRIES FROM
ALL OVER THE WORLD - FESTIVAL TEAMS WITH WITHOUT-A-BOX
04.01.06
PORTSMOUTH, NH – For five years running, the New Hampshire Film
Expo has captured the excitement and energy that is the true spirit of
the independent film movement. Each year the Expo has grown in size and
stature, and Festival Producer Nicole Gregg said this year’s version
promises more surprise guests, more great films and more discussions about
great film than ever before.
“And so it is with great anticipation that I can
announce that submissions to the Sixth Annual New Hampshire Film Expo
will open this April 1,” said Chris Proulx, programming director.
“We have categories for short films, for features, documentaries,
animated projects and screenplays. We hope and expect that filmmakers
will stretch the boundaries of all these categories through their imaginations
and talents.”
Proulx said that there no geographical restrictions
limiting entries. In past years there have been filmmakers represented
from Los Angeles, North Carolina, England and Seoul, South Korea to name
a few.
“However, we especially encourage filmmakers from
New Hampshire and New England to submit,” said Proulx.
“We saw films from a wide range of places last
year,” said Proulx, “And with the incredible improvements
in digital technologies, from cameras to editing programs, we know that
more filmmakers than ever are able to work at their craft and see their
visions come to life.”

The 6th Annual NHFX is scheduled for Oct. 13-15 at several
locations in Portsmouth, including The Music Hall, Strawbery Banke and
the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth hotel. Last year’s event screened
54 films in three days.
Gregg said NHFX is also, for the first time, partnering
with the online submission management service Withoutabox. The NHFX prefers
paperless entries submitted through The International Film Festival Submission
System on the Web at Withoutabox.com. Withoutabox provides cost-saving,
online entry to major film festivals throughout the U.S. and in Europe
with one master entry form, allowing you and us to enter your film more
quickly and with greater accuracy. This method is free and easy. Members
who choose to join Withoutabox also get $5 off their Entry Fees, plus
the advantages of Extended Deadlines and Online Press Kit submissions.
This will be the third year Portsmouth has been home
to the NHFX, and the small city by the sea and the film competition remain
a perfect match for one another.
“Portsmouth is now more than ever one of the great
centers of artistic life here in the state,” said Gregg. “There’s
music and art shows and lectures and poetry readings, and, of course,
great theater everywhere. Portsmouth has amazing restaurants and bistros,
and it has the advantage of being on the water. There’s such positive
energy on Portsmouth right now, and the New Hampshire Film Expo is an
extension of all these artistic endeavors. It’s such a wonderful
place for us to be, and we hope that we reciprocate by being one of the
best and most anticipated events this great city has to offer.”
